The Kinetic Slag Press is one of the three machines that produce gold in Sandustry. It takes Burnt Residue (the by-product of burning slag) and turns it into 1 Gold + 1 Seed per press.
Note on naming: some sources call this machine the "Kinetic Press". The official wiki lists it as the Kinetic Slag Press, and it should not be confused with the earlier Shaker.
How it works
The press relies on gravity, not fuel:
- Feed it Burnt Residue.
- The residue is dropped from 25 or more blocks high.
- On impact, each press converts the residue into 1 Gold + 1 Seed.
Where it fits in the chain
The Kinetic Slag Press sits in the middle of the gold production line:
Slag → (Slag Burner) → Burnt Slag → (Kinetic Slag Press) → Gold + Seed → (Planter Box) → Flower → Gold + Amethelis
- Upstream, the Slag Burner roasts slag into burnt slag (see the slag burner page).
- Downstream, the Seed it produces feeds a Planter Box, which grows a Flower that yields more gold and Amethelis.
Unlocking it
The Kinetic Slag Press is a Tier 2 research unlock and costs 500 gold. You need a working gold supply from your Shaker before you can afford it, so do not rush it — get the Shaker running first.
